T. Robinson, III, directed bands at the junior and senior high school
levels in Huntsville, Alabama for thirty one years, and for seven years
in Cowan, Tennessee. He served on the faculties of Oakwood College and
the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He is an adjunct faculty member
at Alabama A & M University, Calhoun Community College, Catholic High
School and maintains a private studio.
Mr. Robinson earned his
B.A., M.M.Ed. and Ed.S. degrees from Clark Atlanta University,
VanderCook College of Music, and the University of North Alabama,
respectively. He has served as an exchange teacher at the Interlochen
Arts Center, Chairman of the Alabama National Band Association, Chairman
of the Alabama Minority Concern for Music Education National Conference,
President of Alabama Phi Beta Mu and has received the National Band
Association’s Citation of Excellence. Mr. Robinson was host and producer
of the radio program “Nuances in Black Music,” a program devoted
to Black Classical Music. His books, Fun with the Oboe and
Oboe Solos - Beginning Level are
published by Mel Bay. He is the author of The Embryonic Oboist:
An Illustrated Guide for the Beginning Oboist and is the editor
of the Ten Intermediate Phrasing Etudes for
Oboe, Ten Intermediate Phrasing Etudes for Clarinet and Intermediate
Clarinet Solos. He has conducted honor bands and workshops in
Tennessee, Alabama, Virginia, Mississippi and The Midwest Clinic 2005.
He is also a member of the Alabama Phi Beta Mu Bandmasters Hall of Fame.
